As many of you already know, username changing has been forbidden on the server ever since Mojang implemented it on the 4th of February 2015. At the time, I made this news post you may want to read.
Due to recent events, In order to further discourage username changing, I will be implementing some new policies under rule 14 (underlying rule 4) effective immediately.

Players who do not posess their original username will not be elligible for a staff position unless they have spent one map's worth of their time on the server with the new username and it possesses the characteristic of being uniquely identifiable by everyone on the server in preference to the old username.

Banned players who do not posess their original username will not be unbanned.

Players who donate and then change their username will loose their donator rank after 6 months from the time of donation if they continue to have a different username than the one they donated under. If 6 months have already passed as of today, they will loose it immediately.

Staff members who change their username will be immediately demoted.
Note that when I say "original username" I am referring to the username you originally joined the server with. If you joined the server before the 4th of February 2015, this will be your original minecraft username you first got your minecraft account on. However if you joined after the 4th of February 2015, this may or may not be your original minecraft username.
For those not familiar with the previous and continued stance on username changes, the server does not recognise them. A new username is considered for all administrative purposes a new player. For example, staff are not obliged to help username changers recover protections, land claims or homes from their previous username. Statistical information also considers usernames to be unique players.
It's such a shame this had to happen so soon before the holidays. I wish Mojang had never implemented username changes. Maybe I'll be able to one day revert the effects of username changing on the server by making it so that it always shows the original username for all players on the server. Until then, I hope we can conserve what little username integrity is left and continue on.

Well luigi, what if we really really really really, wanna change our names, because we truly don't like it, because before the name change update, if someone chose a stupid name and didn't like it, either A: They had to live with account in shame or sadness, or B: Though less likely Ditched their account, and got a new one, which is a waste

Luigi in all fairness, i don't think the essentials plugin is up to date, therefore thats why the name change is being such a problem. I Have a hunch that if you were to update the Essentials, name changing would no longer be an issue... |
