People want greener electricity, but what really is green?
Hydroelectric power is usually generated with dams and turbines, though this destroys land habitats via flooding and interrupts fish migration and spawning or halts it completely.
Wind power is usually generated with large wind turbines. Wind turbines kill hella ton of birds while producing this god-awful earrape of a whirling sound which makes the ground below absolute hell to live on.
Solar power is usually generated with large dark panels that converts light and heat into electricity. The Earth is in a state of warming and the snow is melting faster than it forms. Snow reflects sunlight back into space, keeping the planet cool. As the snow melts, the Earth's albeto (reflectiveness) decreases, so the planet warms and melts more snow. Solar panels capture the sun's energy rather than releasing it, which lowers the Earth's albedo and warms the planet. Solar panels are not good for the planet.
Geothermal power involves dumping water into a big hole in the Earth and using the steam generated (from ground heat) to spin a turbine. Geothermal plants are high-output, constantly-running power sources that create large white clouds that reflect light back into space, while shading and cooling the air below. Geothermal plants don't destroy habitats like dams do, or kill birds like wind turbines do. |
