So, there have been a lot of complaints from some users regarding how the chat in-game is moderator. Unfortunately there is not a rule on the rule board against inappropriate discussions, which seem to be occurring more and more lately. My suggestion is to use a different chat client.I was not going to post this today, but since so many people are complaining that they can't talk about sex or whatever else, I have decided to not wait to make this suggestion. My original suggestion was going to be that in order to make the Mushroom Co less cluttered with chat, that staff think about making a voice-chat server, specifically for chatting. Such clients for voice chat that take very little processing power are Teamspeak and Ventrilo. I do know that some users of this server already use Skype or Discord, but unfortunately not all players are able to have Skype and Minecraft both open at the same time, since their computers can't handle it. Unfortunately for myself, I always have Discord open becuase my close friends from my hometown use it to chat, but I cannot have Minecraft, Discord, and Skype all open at the same time, since my computer cannot keep up with all of them without lagging. Unfortunately hardly anyone on Mushroom Co uses Discord, even though there is a Mushroom Co Discord channel. Anyway, another reason why it would be good to use a voice chat client over a text-based one such as the one that is already in Minecraft is that some people who discuss inappropriate things may be less likely to do so over voice. Not to mention a voice chat client would make the screen less cluttered when playing Minecraft, since less people would be chatting in it. But if staff decides not to make a separate client server(such as TeamSpeak or Ventrilo), then I would like to ask that we at least have an official rule that does not allow inappropriate discussions, such as one about sex, harassing other players verbally, or taking sexually to or about other players. All of the inappropriate talk in chat is getting really annoying, and I appreciate the staff's current actions to prevent such talk. (One minor thing: I already have a TeamSpeak server, and am willing to let users of this server at least try it out if they want, to see if it is a good idea. This server that I have used to be for my friends from my hometown, but unfortunately they all went to Discord. Also the cap on it is 10 users at the moment.) |

I definitely agree, the inappropriate discussions involving sex and other serious NSFW topics needs to stop. The server does have kids younger than 10 on it, and exposing them to this sort of stuff needs to end. Now whether we need another chat client is debatable, it would be interesting to see, but what I think we should focus on first is stopping these inappropriate discussions. I would post log examples but I think we all get the gist of it, and to find examples just go online and watch the chat for 30 minutes when there are at least 20 players. It goes from harmless Minecraft topics to topics involving porn and sex. This cannot continue on the server. +1 |

I use discord, that's a great idea. It's cool if the server uses it. If someone knows the invitation code, then message it to me in-game. |

Yeah, I probably should have just waited to post a suggestion about a separate chat client, cuase it is not that important. But we do definitely need less inappropriate talk, or at least rules about it. I guess I jumped the gun gun on lumping both subjects together just becuase they both have to do with chat. |

The discord was literally abandoned to a certain extent. I think a new one should be made and should be announced somewhere on the forums. One much more "official". |
