Its not just about the clock, if you have read the ban message it shows that you brought the server down to 15 TPS. You have caused this to happen before, mostly due to the goldfarm you made in spawn. Its only a one day temp ban just wait it out and dont make a big deal of it. Make sure you learn from it.

i didnt do it because of my gold farm, my gold farm doesn't create lag, you only get lag if there is A 1K pigmen, which there has never been or B you have a fucking shit PC

I said to prove that we have a redstone-clock-lag detector, you could make a small clock that I'd find using the Plugin. I then tp'd to it and you made it bigger, I told you to stop it because it was beginning to cause lag. You said "I have stopped" and I went afk.
When I returned you had made the clock about 15 times larger and the tps has dropped to 14 because of it.
Throughout the entire event you had an argumentative mindset and seemed to want to lag the server... constantly asking me to use the Plugin to detect how bad the lag was that you were trying to cause.

Also your farm does cause lag. /gc tells us that it is, by showing mob count.

As I said, it only lags if you have a shit PC or there is like 2k mobs there...

But there was no need to ban me for 2 days..

lag and fps drop are completely different things btw.
you don't get lag if you have a shit PC, you get low FPS.
if you get banned for causing lag then the person that banned you should always look (or get an admin to do it) at /gc to look at the server tps / mob count, etc.

In this case i did /gc and saw that the lag was on the server hardware (low tps is lag), did /tps and /co i to compare past tps with the time you placed the clocks (the tps dropped in the same time that you created them), i also looked for any other potential clocks causing lag, AND looked at /timings to see if someone else was causing lag in another way.
you were 100% investigated before your ban, every test i did came back to you being the culprit for low TPS aka lag.

the tempban was justified.

If you have a shit PC it actually can affect lag for every one.

lag is created when your download speed of your internet (or upload speed from the server network) is not fast enough to keep up with your in-game actions.
The network speed is what causes lag, not computer hardware.

The server doesn't have enough ram then.. The server has more slots that a ram should.. that is why the server cannot handle my goldfarm..
Image Perso
Chip_Bruh
Date sent: 2016/07/21 22:08:38
The amount of slots open does not effect the RAM at all, its how many players that are online that effect it. Besides, mob count does not effect RAM at all either! it only effects TPS.
When it comes to memory, the server will optimize what it has available to run as well as it can. There are a lot of things that affect how much memory a server needs. If a server is using plugins that require things to be stored in memory, such as worldedit or dynmap, they will need more memory. If a server is using a slow hard drive, this can also drive up the amount of memory needed. Finally, if the CPU is slow and the server isn't processing things very quickly, things may need to stay in memory longer. High mob count does not serve for higher RAM dedication.

TPS is a measure of how many "ticks" the server is performing each second. Minecraft runs off a sort of ingame "clock" in which every process is set to run at a specific speed. This speed is measured in ticks. For example, each day in Minecraft is 24,000 ticks. When a server becomes overloaded (mob count, for example) the TPS will drop. This causes everything in Minecraft to happen slower, which causes lag on the server. A perfect TPS is 20 ticks per second.

James and I repeatedly put out your gold farm's nether portals because of the immense lag it was creating. It was down to 13 TPS at one point and crashed - then the next day I come on, it's down to 15 TPS and there are 108 zombie pigmen at your farm and your portals are up and running again.

The server almost crashed, prior to its crash two days ago because of it, and we put it out two times. It causes lag for the whole server - not just because we have crap computers. I don't, myself.

So if you have your own server set up on your computer and decide to stress test it while running the server, the sever would be fine?

Date sent: 2016/07/21 22:31:34
I don't get lag so it isn't an issue for me. Is a server issue not being able to handle it.. That is all. The gold farm is only running if people are up there, i have put it at the height it is at because it is of atleast 128 blocks or more above spawn, mobs automaktically depawn.. So it isn't my fault, nor is it Entirely my goldfarm lagging if people would stop warping to it all the time it would be fine.

Our server isnt run on a PC pepper. its shared hosting by our host, somewhere in Bristol.
what you were referring to is the host having hardware issues, which is a whole other story to a player causing issues.

Yes, I could turn my computer into a server, actually.

I have an i7 5820K 3.3GHz processor with 16 GB of RAM and 1GB of solid slate drive, and a 100mbps low-ping cable connection. This is on my other computer, these are just the necessities, of course.

Server-side Lag:

Server lag in Minecraft is described in TPS (Ticks per second). 20 TPS are the max. Each tick does things like calculate mobs turning, farms growing, animals growing, etc. The less TPS, the more "lag" you experience. Seeing people freezing for a second or so then being in a totally different place is a perfect example of this. These ticks are not related to redstone ticks.

You cant do much to fix TPS lag. TPS lag can only be improved by the host, by them either getting more RAM or getting a better computer to host on.

Client-side Lag:

On the other hand, client-side lag is mainly caused by your computer. This is FPS lag. Your FPS can be checked by pressing F3 (on most computers I believe). It is caused by a multitude of things. Lots of entities, tons of mobs in one location, lots of redstone running at once, shaders/texture packs, or just having a cruddy computer. The better computers that are built for gaming obviously will get a lot more FPS than your dinosaur from 2006. It is rarely caused by the server you're playing on.

Latency/Network lag is determined by your location. It is mainly determined on how far you are away from where the server is hosted. The farther you live away from the server, the longer the data has to travel, making it take longer to send and receive the information.

You cant do much to fix Latency, except moving closer to the servers location or increasing your bandwith.

Reason i want it at spawn is so below i can make an iron farm, lower to the ground, no lag and the iron farm will always be active ..

Im telling you, the server is the problem, not what is in the server.

It may be hardware from the hosts etc. But most likely is server ram that is the problem, whether luigioftbakery hasnt bought enough ram. And if you say ram hasn't got anything to do with it, ram has everything to do with how fast a server runs and what its TPS is.

this guy on reddit kinda answers your question, "(How) Does redstone clocks cause lag?"

"Of course something always running is going to consume CPU cycles, so in that sense; Yes! Minecraft checks a lot of extra blocks for updates with the redstone aspect of the game. Both for you and the server. More so the server I would guess, as the server needs to keep track of more updates than usual, for all the players. For you, the lighting updates are going to be more cumbersome that the "ticks" being rendered/processed."

guiness nonono. when we have high mob count / low TPS, there is never an unusual drop in free memory (i am shown this with /gc). there is always atleast 500MB free.
if what you said was true, the ram would be much lower.

It is the server. That is where I stand. I will admit it will give a person lowered fps but that is if they have a poor preformance pc. And or there is like over 1 thousand pigmen, which it doesnt reach within 12 hours which is the most i have had it running..

Sure, if we had a more beefy server then the lag wouldn't be caused as easily, but its the fact that we, the community, don't need a more beefy server for our uses, is what you NEED to understand.

Well thats where you're wrong, you cant just limit what people want to build... People like me may want to build farms. You're going to lose players and not attract new ones to stay if you limit things like that.

The limits that we have are for normal minecraft players. There is no point is spending loads of extra money on a more beefy server, just for the odd player. The recourses won't get used and money will be wasted.

Loads of extra money? Luigi gets more than enough for a server from donations.. He the amount of donators, donations and future donations this server could be almost of same size as a small hub server. With little added efort.

Let's assume this server costs about 20 25$ per month to rent, okay? Now throughout my time of being staff (I began paying closer attention to the ranks), I have not seen a huge amount of new donators. A few VIPs here and there, maybe the rare builder and occasional donator+.
P/m I probably see 1 or 2 new VIPs and a rare higher rank.
Another large issue is that upgrading is a hassle, transferring all that data onto a sub-server that's more powerful is a handful and in itself isn't outweighed by the benefits.

Guin,do you think any further upgrades to a server which has 15-20 players average of any given moment is worth it?(I don't)

Besides, why would you need such big farms anyway..I don't think any normal farm requires 3-digit number of pigmen..unless you are supplying for the half of the server's gold..

If it the fact it may cause you any lag i can impliment a way for me to turn them on and off if you so wish. It will minimize the amount of lag it may already produce for some players. Thats the most I will do.

I will admit it can lag the server, but it really only happens above 850 entities. And i dont often let it reach that.

Some people seem to have the wrong idea that RAM is what mostly determines a server's performance. RAM (random access memory) is a type of temporary storage or cache used so that the CPU can access stored data quickly. It is the CPU that processes server ticks and determines what the TPS is, not RAM. The main purpose of RAM in the server is to store loaded chunks, hence why more players that each load their own radius of chunks around them require more RAM. RAM is also used to store other things like plugins, plugin data and other world information such as entities, but that's usually quite small when compared with chunk data.

The only time RAM will become an issue in TPS performance is when it is all used up and the CPU has to start loading and unloading things from secondary storage which is slower. RAM is primary storage, SSDs or HDDs are secondary storage.

Like Chip said, the server has more than enough memory to handle the amount of chunks loaded in by online players. There is in fact enough to hold 80 players worth of loaded chunk radiuses. RAM is more an indicator of capacity rather than performance, and even then, it's very possible to have a server with 100 or more players online in the same area that won't load in very many chunks and therefore won't use up much RAM.

Intensive use of CPU resources on the server by things such as redstone clocks or excessive amounts of entities is what causes the TPS to drop (there can be other factors as well). Usually it's entities, because they take longer to process (especially mob AIs), which is why there is a specific donator rule on it. When the TPS drops, everything on the server slows down and it affects everyone's experience. In my opinion, purposely lagging the server should result in a permanent ban.

Because the server is on shared hosting, the CPU resources must be shared with all the other servers on the node. The servers are only charged by allocation of RAM, so there's really not much I can do to get more CPU resources except get a dedicated server with the whole CPU for myself. However, that would cost upwards of £70 a month and not only can I not afford that, but it would not be worth it for the amount of players on the server since only a small fraction of the resources would be used.

That is the server that cannot handle the amount of Mobs. CPU or what ever ram i don't care, basically the server cannot handle it, it isn't my fault, its the servers fault the TPS drops.

Do you even listen to yourself sometimes 😂😂 it's 100% your fault that the server keeps getting overloaded.
Anyway like luigi said, I went easy on you. It could have easily been a perm ban but I knew you'd just cause a shit storm so I didn't bother.
