Hey guys, it came to my attention that many of you (including staff) do not understand the consequences and underlying facts behind Rule 14, "Username changing is forbidden", following the additional sign, "You will lose everything!".The reason that username changing is forbidden is because plugins such as factions, LWC (the plugin that locks your chests), etc. Do not recognise username changes, and therefor you are seen by the plugins as a new player - meaning you lose your faction, you can't access your chests, etc. You lose everything! Luigi also dislikes username changing because players associate memories with you by your username. For example, when I join the server, you all say "Hey Chip" and know who I am, but if I change my username to something else, you wouldn't. Consequences of changing your username: Whilst banned If You are banned and you change your username, you will no longer be eligible for an unban. you will remain banned until you change your username back to the previous one that you were banned with. This is because the ban log does not recognise username changes and will not be able to unban your new name (because that username has ever joined the server). During the possession of a Donated rank If you have donated for a rank, VIP - Donator+, you will be demoted to the Citizen rank 6 months after you were promoted to your donated rank. E.g. If you have had the rank for 6 months or over you will be demoted immediately. However, if you receive your donated rank and the next day you change your username, you will be demoted in 6 months time (-1 day). If you change your name back to the original (the one you donated with) before the 6 months are over you will not be demoted. if the 6 months have already passed but you change your name back to the original you will be re-promoted. During the possession of Member or Citizen+ if you have the rank [Member] or [Citizen]+, you will be demoted immediately, there is no countdown. Although, if you change your username back to before you will be re-promoted. While a Citizen There are no punishments, loses include; the eligibility for member or citizen+ ranks are reset, and you lose what you had before. While a staff member Immediate demotion to the rank you had before staff, even if it was a donated rank. there are no punishments that follow, if you change your name back to the one before, you will be re-promoted to staff (as long as you haven't been replaced). Side note: Changing your username will also make you ineligible for any staff role, unless you change your name back to the Original. Secondary side note: when i say "Original username" i am referring to the username that was first registered with the server. "you don't have anything that you had before" this is not true. I've changed my names many time before, I agree you do lose a lot of stuff but regarding your inventory you don't. Maybe it's different for other players... but as far as I know you keep all your inventory you had before with your previous name. Other than that very well written. |

Oh i'll edit that out then, DatGoodBear. i was unsure about the inventory part as the amount of data that would need to be stored, the amount of times you edit your inventory would be huge. |
