I allow my grammar, use of vulgarity, and spelling reveal my maturity and the level of respect I have for the one with whom I am speaking. It also reveals how cranky I am, because when I get a good mad on, I stop bothering.For those who feel "this is just a game and does not matter", to me this reveals your maturity and level of respect for *me*. @Luigi, maybe if you actually put forum rules in place we could follow them, people constantly getting warned on the forums when there's not a damn rule list, come on, it's not that hard to make a topic and tell us the rules, once you've done that, if we continue, come back.I'm sick of getting warnings for NON-EXISTANT rules. Put some forum rules down. |

Well, the forum rules SHOULD be the same as the server rules as such rules apply. I'm not clear at all why they wouldn't. If I could tinker with mods for Minecraft, I'd make a connector that would ban people from both the MC server and the forum at the same time. If you are smacked from one, you would be smacked from both with instructions to email "staff@webcraft.co.uk" for an appeal.As far as the use of vulgar language, I would strongly suggest a "PEGI 12" rule where the content on both the server and the forums would be appropriate and consistent with a PEGI 12 or PG-13 rating. Information on PEGI ratings can be found at http://www.pegi.info/en/index/id/33/ and the point would be an external, third-party measure for what is acceptable and what is not that can be recognized by people playing games. This "no excessive foul language" rule, in my opinion, means you the one swearing get to decide what is "excessive", which means "swear as much as you think you can get away with at the time." In other words, I think that version of the rule is silly, self-conflicting and high on my list of things that ought to be changed promptly. But as the OP is about using proper grammar, I am still looking for the intellectually honest response as to why one's choice of grammar and use of vulgar language does NOT indicate maturity and respect towards one's intended audience. |
