Players should not be permanently muted for obvious reasons Gavin & it's utterly stupid to think that you can do that.-If in need of help by a moderator/admin because of grief, raid, general command help, etc. -Doing trades with players. -He owns the 2nd biggest faction on the server, he'll need to talk to his members. |

I agree with Gavin. Abuse of chat does not constitue a permanent ban from the entire server, a mute is more suitable.@BlueRoon He was permanently banned by staff for things that only deserved a temp-ban, jail or mute. By the time I unbanned him he had already served a temp-ban of suitable length, so there was still a punishment involved for his actions. |

Blue - I don't know the circumstances. My own experiences with him have been brief and largely positive - we were collaborating on a build of his yesterday. Yes, he causes controversy, but so do many other people. Personally speaking, this does not bother me. As one of the older players here, I'd most definitely rather not have the younger ones subjected to rape jokes, racism, etc. I don't know who's responsible for this kind of thing when it occurs, and I generally try to ignore the chat when things get beyond a certain level of obnoxiousness anyway.Beyond that, all I know is what I read here, and I (and everyone else not directly affected) am in no position to judge either the truthfulness, or the severity, of what's being claimed. If the guy's done stuff that merits a permaban then his position on the server, faction, etc, shouldn't make a difference. If not, apply whatever punishment is deemed fit. In the end it's the server owner's call as to whether or not he's fit to play here. If Luigi makes a decision that players don't like, they're free to raise it on the forums, which as I understand it Luigi has also provided. If they don't like the result then they're free to leave. And Wowman - I almost feel like I'm getting dragged into the mod thing myself, which I absolutely don't want to be, but there's so much nonsense over this - lay off the staff. Look, yesterday I watched Penq get complained at for almost ten minutes over a two-minute mute that looked, to me, to be completely justified. This is the kind of thing that happens when this stuff gets too serious - because after all, it's a freaking game. I'm frequently irreverant or sarcastic in chat, but I try never to go beyond a certain line or be disrespectful. I think the staff could probably do their jobs better if a handful of people made it easier for them. If someone does something wrong, there's a forum for it. But don't tar the entire "staff team", as you put it, because of some specific things that some specific staff members may have done to disturb you. That's not good for you, me, them, or America. |
