Rules explained for newcomers- Unwritten rules-

Rule 1. No griefing.

Obviously most of us know what griefing is, if there is anyone new to MineCraft on our servers, then it means do not destroy other peoples buildings.


Scamming/Fraud can be classed as griefing, too.

Scamming is when you say your going to give/do something as a lie to benefit from something. For example:

I'll sell you 5 emeralds for 5 diamonds - They pass over the diamonds, you run away with them and the emeralds. That's scamming.

Rule 2. No hacking.

Anyone who is breaking this rule knows what it means, so I won't go into it. But basically, don't use mods, hacks, etc.
There can be exceptions like Optifine, but please consult an admin or moderator before downloading/enabling this mod/hack.

Things like Nodus, X-ray, fly hacks, etc, are NOT allowed under any circumstances.

Rule 3. Be nice to other players.

Regardless of race, sexual orientation, whether a player is better or worse at MineCraft, or whatever the heck else, you must NEVER insult them, pick on them, bully them, etc.

Always be respectful, we are a community and nobody should disrespect anyone, we should all get along perfectly. Anyway, nobody knows what's going on in their real-life, you insulting them for whatever reason may be the tip of an ice-berg for some.

Rule 4. Do not be abusive.

This goes for everyone, not just staff & donators.

You can abuse by doing /pvp false or /pvp off during PVP to prevent dying, use /withdraw 5000 & use chests to bank your cash to evade tax, etc, and you will always get caught.
Donators cannot abuse /smite, tp kill, etc. Basically, use your permissions in a correct and fair way or you will either be banned or lose them permissions.

Rule 5. Do not ask for ranks other than citizen.

Don't go round begging for OP, admin, moderator, helper, Donator, etc.

Rule 6. Do not ask for handouts.

Do not beg for items/gear/supplies/anything. This is a survival server.


Rule 7. Do not give away spawned/cheated items.
This mostly goes for donators, but NEVER give away creative/spawned in items that aren't legit, etc.

Don't dupe or even attempt to.

Rule 8. No spamming.

Do not repeat the same command many times, or the same sentence for example:

Hi
Hi
Hi
Hi
Hi

Just say Hi & shut up! :P
If you spam commands you can get kicked, if you spam sentences/words in chat, (including tpa'as), it can result in a ban, mute, jail or kick.

Rule 9.
No excessive killing.

Excessive: A hell of a lot.

It's okay to kill somebody, but don't kill 20 people in a day, kill one or two, remember, you can always do /Pvp false, but many do not know of this command. Don't kill the same person 5 times in a row.... etc.


Rule 10. No excessive swearing.

It's okay to swear once or twice, but space it out, there is no need to swear in every sentence & its prohibited on the forums I believe.
Never use swearwords to offend/insult anyone.

Rule 11. Do not advertise other servers.

It's okay to play on more than one server, but don't come on this one saying ip's of other ones so people will leave our server and join that one . You can get perm banned for this.

Rule 12. Only donators have coloured/flashy nicknames.

No need to explain this one :)

Rule 13. Replant all trees.

Collect the saplings & replant trees, have respect for the environment & for new players.


And that's basically it. Most of us knew all this, but I'm certain there are some who don't, some don't even know what half of the rules meant, its written in such a formal manner, you can see Luigi wrote them :P

Thank you for saying this. Several players have told me "It doesn't say that anywhere" after I ask them to stop. They were technically correct, and there was nothing I could do to stop them. This really helps.

Don't spam "smite", or you shall be taunted for revealing your sexual inadequacies.

Don't spam "JOIN MY FACTION!" or you shall be taunted for wanting to be a godling, but lacking the power or competence to actually make use of what you have that anyone would care about your faction.

Don't "TPA" on top of someone without asking. Do the rules "allow" it? Sure. But it is rude and obnoxious behavior. You may do this out of some misguided desire to "help" the server by "checking up" on people. If you are not staff, that isn't your job, you don't have the right to do that. If you are staff and you believe you have fair cause to see if someone is violating rules, be certain to DOCUMENT the fair cause and present it as evidence when you have to explain why you felt it justified to do so. Jumping on top of someone just to say "hi" without asking first is just rude. Don't be surprised if someone reacts by telling you to piss off.

thx wowman! tbh im most glad about the /withdraw bit, as i had several thousand stored via banknotes in my chests and in james' bank. neither of us can find the banknotes and today when i noticed my balance was 0, i went looking and couldnt find them. i had intended to ask luigi, but since according to you its abuse via tax evasion kinda glad they are gone o.O

It would be useful to have the concept behind an in-game "tax" explained. I'm not clear on why I should have play-money taken from my account that I spend time to earn for any reason.

Just saying, speaking other languages in public chat is actually against the rules, although its unwritten, its a rule. It's also very rude to speak a language nobody understands, it's like whispering at a dinner table.

How about, "If it is a 'rule', it is documented?"

Maybe a rule about "If it's a rule, people could have one spot to go to so they know the rule exists?"

That should go with "don't make rules you can't enforce" and "don't make rules you don't expect to have followed."

The website should have something like webbcraft.co.uk/rules so this doesn't have to be bumped. It's really kinda silly to me.

http://rwmuck.limitless.org/rwmuck/content/rules-and-policies is an example of how another game server (text only) handles it. At some point I'm thinking of translating the rules as they would apply to Minecraft and suggest them here.

If the rules were that important, they would be VERY easy to get to, they would be pretty simple to follow, and they wouldn't allow for people to make up their own definitions of things to suit their needs. "Excessive swearing" "Excessive" by who's standards? Or is it "When YOU do that, it is excessive, when *I* do that, it's no big deal." But as long as the rules are a nebulous hashed up mess without one single, easy-to-find location to read them, I have to suppose the rules really don't matter. That, or threads like this will have to do.

Wasn't advertising, and if you'd taken the time to look, you'd see it isn't a minecraft server. It was provided as an example of the way rules could be done so they were easy to find and easy to follow without morons screwing things over.

@romaq if someone spamms to to me, I accept and they die a horrible death. It is A piston trap over a pit with hoppers so I get the loot and if they fly back, I can lock the doors. It is perfectly legal AND you get good loot. It's how I got a beacon and an effort 4 pick.

Even though griefing is against the rules, people do it to me all the time :/
the Templars (currently called FazeClan) base has been griefed by someone. It was obviously someone in the fac because the land is claimed.
I might make a topic soon in the complaints section of the damage. I wasn't online to see the griefer/griefing though.

Items in item frames are not protected unless you put glass in front of and around it so they can't 'touch' the item frame.

Where "X" is the block the item frame is on, "|" is the item frame and what you want to display, and # is glass so the item frame is impossible to touch. You would need to do this above and below also, if there isn't anything else like a ceiling or floor in the way to prevent interaction. Otherwise, save yourself the trouble and leave the puffer fish out on the floor for someone to walk by and take. It is simply too tempting a target for your average thieving moron. I am facing the exact same problem with a project I am working on, unfortunately, so I very much understand your annoyance. I just don't want to give away puffer fish before I decide to make it so they can't get to them. :)

A better bet, and the most likely way I will fix my situation is to simply use signs. As an added bonus, only people who can read the sign can learn from what you write on it, and hopefully the worst of the idiots taking your stuff will simply ignore the writing since they can't steal a sign.
