Hello everybody my name is lifoo and I am currently a mod on webbcraft if you do not know who I am or are new to the server. Right now there is a large debate going around on a map reset. I've decided to conduct a survey of bases to see how many are abandoned. Recent results indicate a whopping 96% of all bases lie in ruin. This survey will continue, the reason I'm posting this is because yesterday a citizen got very angry when I tped to him. If I (lifoo) tp to you it is probably just to check out the area your base is in for other bases. Thank you for the time!

Hello! I just looked at 3345 bases and 3127 where greifed and laying in ruin or had not been used in over 4 months. This means that 93.4828101644% of all bases are not occupied, averaged with the last count that means the total is 94.7414050822% of all surveyed houses/bases are unoccupied or griefed/trashed.

All hell will break through at an instant and we will die off like Flys every last one of us. And this planet will just be a dead rock. At least it will teach many of the humans on this planet a lesson. Including a few of you think my last post was creepy I'm full of Hell and Horror

I think maybe when we hit the year mark we should reset it.

No think about all the great builds it is easier to bomb the places and the memories and send it all to hell with the people that once lived in them. (I can go all day)

So, what methods do you use to check if a house has been abandoned? What happens if no viable data is found to confirm what state it is in? (other than broken and griefed, which is clearly obvious) Also, at what point does it become a 'house' and not just a jumble of griefed blocks; do structures need to meet any conditions to fit this investigation?

Do you also check the coordinates each time you review a new base to make sure it hasn't been reviewed before? Do you use a quick method to check through 3000 sets of coordinates, because clearly it would be tiresome to check through them all manually, and if so, which coordinates do you record? (such the exact coordinates of the front door, middle of the house, etc. so you can get an accurate location for the query to check if you have been there before).

For this to be an accurate investigation with reliable results, standards need to be taken into account. These results do seem very disturbing, but also quite hard to believe, since the map is very large, you'd more than likely come across the same place twice while wandering around. It would be difficult to remember if you were there before after surveying so many properties, or even check if you were there before, without an accurate standard measuring coordinate and a query system to deal with so many coordinate entries.

This is what I do. I tp to a players base, I write the coordanites down and mark that it is active. When I do not tp to a players base a will record 3 coordanites in a triangle then fly around in the triangle. That way if I fly into an area that I've already done I know. When a house is greifed or trashed I count it as not occupied. If I see a perfectly good house I will fly down to it and use /co i as well as looking at locked items and doing /seen. If there have been no interections or the player hasn't been on for 4 months I count it as unoccupied. Also I've been moving out from spawn and encountering more and more occupied bases. This survey is not supposed to make a map reset but it is supposed to encourage people to not greif, take over old plots and take care of the server.

Fortunately I just happen to have an army of approximately 600 creepers that I've been amassing in my basement... *ahem*... Just in case of... y'know... stuff.

Want to borrow 'em? They'll get things flattened out in no time.
