Banned for Raiding

A ban for four days or a week or so is more reasonable, but i don't understand why a permanent ban is necessary. This is my first time ever getting banned from a minecraft server, and I will read and re-read the rules and to sure I don't get banned again. Would it be possible to have a second chance?
