1.14 has killed the server. Hundreds of entities have disappeared. Even on Singleplayer, it's extremely laggy, on Mush, it's unplayable. As Aouldrain has shown, the server is frequently running 0/80 players.

All of this to jump to a new update before it's stable.

Luigi, get you thumb out of your ass. We need to rollback to before the update, because that's the root of this problem. Waiting it out isn't working. Even if the update never stabilises, I don't really care; I'd rather have a working server than new features.

And if all of this didn't get through to you; if the server continues like this, no new players are gonna keep playing. If no new players keep playing, none of them are going to donate. If none of them donate, you don't get any money.

Just checked the server. Lag fixed!
You know why? Only one other guy was playing.
Something's gone wrong here. Owners: get past your shitty god complex, and fix it.

3 days in: Nothing. Still laggy.

5 days in: Lag fixed, because we're averaging 3/80 players. A week ago, we had ~15.
Entities are still gone, so shops are barely useable, and animal farms are empty.

A rollback would cause a loss of progress, but hopefully less than the update has. But every day this is left on, a rollback becomes more and more costly. We need to do this asap.

It will be fixed in 1.14.1 which I think is coming out tomorrow. Staff can respawn entities for you and item frames can be restored if they were placed within the last month.

How? Local rollback?

EDIT: Nvm. I've started to rebuild.
Still annoying, though.

Welp, it happened again. Is this a part of the server, or just 1.14 being 1.14? I can't find any bug reports on this.

1. I've not had problems with 1.14 outside of Mushroom Company
2. I've been on the server alone and on when there were 20 people online. Both were equally laggy.

I think this is the relevant bug report:

I found that loading new chunks after the update is causing lag. It makes sense that I don't lag in my singleplayer world because I don't move around much on it.

I have a solution: reduce the world border to like 10k until the new garbage doesn't suck. Try ANYTHING. This is unplayable. I'll check back to see if its working from time to time but I CANNOT PLAY on this server anymore.

So 1.14.1 didn't fix it. Mojang apparently couldn't be bothered to fix their shitty update. Great business model.

Though we still shouldn't have updated so soon, we're too far now. I guess we'll have to wait it out.

Anyway, I've also noticed that the server sometimes comes offline for a few minutes after slowly crashing. Is this part of MC or the server?

It's from vanilla, there is a memory leak with tile entities not unloading properly (same reason why they disappear on chunk borders) - this is fixed in 1.14.2 which should be out very soon this week since the 1.14.2 pre-releases 1 and 2 are already out.

What about the crashing?

Supposedly it was fixed in 1.14.1, which turned out to be false. I wouldn't get high hopes for 1.14.2
